A busy term 1 comes to a close at the end of next week. Our students are currently midway through their swimming lessons and reports so far from the Swimming Instructors, our Staff and the Transport Provider are that our students are behaving well and displaying and developing their water skills. Every year we submit preferences for our swimming lessons. This year we were successful with our preferences and therefore swimming lessons are being held in term 1 for the first time in many years.
Thank you for the wonderful P&C Easter Hat Parade last Thursday. Mrs Hanlon and her band of helpers, including some of our Year 6 students, arranged a fantastic morning. Mr Fairclough and Mrs Paul combined to provide the program and music with the highlight being the drawing of the many Easter raffle prizes. A special mention should be made of the Easter Bunny who attended the celebration and provided much delight and a chocolate egg for each child.
We wish to remind parents that students must be punctual for the start of the school day, but are expected to not arrive prior to 8.30am. If they do arrive before 8.30am students must be seated on the stage in the old undercover area where supervision is provided from 8.15am.
Staff have a duty of care and can only release students to an authorised adult (over 18) who is listed on your child’s records on the school database. Students who have not been collected at the end of day by 3.15pm must go to the office to wait for a parent. Students playing unsupervised on school grounds, while waiting for collection, is not acceptable as supervision cannot be adequately provided. We understand that unexpected issues can arise and ask that if you know you will be late to collect your child to please advise the office on 9447 4199 before 3pm.
If you need to take your child out of school during the day you must first attend the office to complete an entry in the Leave Pass Book prior to going to your child’s classroom. You will then be given a yellow slip which must be handed to the teacher when collecting your child.
I would also like to request all parent please direct concerns and or issues to your classroom teachers in the first instance. On many occasions misinformation and misunderstandings can be clarified with a quick meeting or discussion. If, however, this does not solve the problem then please feel free to contact myself to arrange a meeting to address your concerns. I would request that you make me aware of the issues prior to a meeting as this will enable me to have all the information available to discuss and arrive at a solution. For further information, including our Complaints Handling Policy, please refer to our Raising Concerns page.
Parents, please note that term 1 finishes on Friday 13 April and students will return to school after the holidays on Tuesday 1 May. Our annual ANZAC Ceremony will take place the following Friday May 4 from 9am.
Mr Marsden, our PE specialist, has posted another short video on our school website which shows the progress our junior students have made in the area of gymnastics. Click here to view the video.
