From the Principal – 30 November 2018

Open Night

We were extremely pleased with the number of families who took the opportunity to visit our classrooms on Wednesday night. Our students and teachers combined to highlight the programs and activities we are involved in on a daily basis.

Some classes experienced the majority of families visiting on the night and it was very nice to see the enthusiasm displayed by our students in arranging for their parents to visit.

Families also had the opportunity to view our specialist programs and experience the engagement these curriculum areas are adding to the knowledge and experience of our students.

Over the next few weeks we hope to contact a number of families, at random, who attended the evening to seek feedback and possible enhancement for future open evenings.

Celebration Awards Assembly

This assembly on Wednesday 5 December will see the acknowledgement of students who embrace the values of our school. This can occur academically, socially and/or emotionally and links strongly with our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) program which is embedded in all areas of our school.

Also at this assembly we will recognise our Star Readers who have been selected by their classroom teachers due to their commitment, perseverance and excellence or improvement in Reading.

This assembly will replace our Endeavour Awards assemblies which have been held in previous years. We hope you will join us in celebrating these achievements.

Open Board Meeting

Our School Board will convene on Monday 3 December at 5.15pm and this meeting is open to any interested parents or community members. It will be held in our staffroom and we encourage you to join us.

P&C Family Christmas Night

This event is one which has become a highlight on the school calendar. It is a wonderful occasion in which our school community can join together to celebrate a fantastic year at Glendale and also provides a great opportunity for Glendale families to catch up prior to the busy festive season.

This is a P&C run event and works effectively due to the help of many volunteers however I need to remind all families participating this is a “Family Christmas Night” run on an open school oval and therefore parents need to stay aware of their children’s safety at all times during the event.

The event commences at 5pm on Thursday 13 December and concludes at 8pm. I hope you are able to join us.
