Interm swimming lessons are a valuable part of primary school education and allows our students to gain both skills and experience which is essential for people living in a Western Australian environment.
Easter Hat Parade and ANZAC Day
With swimming taking up the two weeks prior to our first term break, which includes Easter and ANZAC Day, we have had to make some changes to incorporate these two valued annual events at Glendale.
The P&C Fundraising Committee will again ask for donations for our Easter Raffles which will see tickets sold during week 10 in the old undercover area. Our Easter Hat Parade will take place on Friday 12 April at approximately 2pm. The reason behind the end of day timing is due to the swimming timetable. We again invite parents to join us on this occasion and help us celebrate one of the highlights on the Glendale calendar.
Our ANZAC ceremony will be held in the first week of Term 2, Wednesday 1 May. We have planned this because Monday April 29 will be the Professional Development Day for our teaching staff and therefore is a student free day. We will then have one day to prepare for the service on Wednesday morning. More information will be released via our communication services as soon as it has been confirmed.
First Day of Term 2 for Students
Tuesday 30 April is the first day of Term 2 for students.
This year our school is required to complete NAPLAN tests online. The only test that is still on paper is Year 3 Writing. All government schools must do a practice test on the 3 April between 9am and 11am to test the NAPLAN site to see if it has the capacity to cope with all schools logging in at the same time. This test is not marked and due to swimming will only be done by students in rooms 12 and 16.
The official NAPLAN testing starts on 14 May and the portal will be open for 9 days for schools to complete all the tests. It is assumed all students in year 3 and 5 complete the tests however should you wish to withdraw your child from NAPLAN testing please contact Steven Noble to discuss before Friday 12 April.
