From the Principal – 25 May 2018

Today Glendale PS was scheduled to host the second of 3 inter school friendly sporting matches. We were to welcome Goollelal Primary School to participate in Netball, Soccor and AFL matches. However due to harsh weather concerns we decided to cancel this match up and hope to reschedule for next Friday. Our last matches were against Hawker Park PS and we achieved good results in all sports. I strongly believe our students gain many things out of activities like these, particularly with schools in our close vicinity. Good luck to all our students and teams participating in these events.

I would like to take an opportunity to direct all our Parents and Caregivers to the Raising Concerns page on this website which provides information on this area. The area I wish to highlight is regarding the first point of contact with issues or concerns. Our process asks you to make your first contact with the classroom teacher. Many of our staff use Class Dojo to relay general information but this means of communication is not designed for or secure enough to handle conversations or information relating to issues or concerns. May I please ask that you do not use this system for asking questions about possible issues or concerns. A phone call or email via glendale.ps@education.wa.edu.au is the preferred means of communication and this will enable us to arrange information, meetings or any other measure at our disposal to come to a solution or address your issues or concerns. I would suggest that any important or time sensitive communication follow these same guidelines. Please note that information sent to Class Dojo may take up to 24 hours before it is seen or actioned.

Our new playgrounds have helped make Glendale PS a fantastic place to be after school. However I have some concerns with unsupervised students remaining in the playground or surrounds waiting for parents. Our process is for students, who are waiting for parents to collect them, to go to the office area to wait in a supervised location. I understand this can inconvenience parents who are 10 – 15 minutes late and have to come and collect their children from the office. However the overall safety of your child is our greatest concern. I hope you will reinforce this with your children as we do at every opportunity. My staff will circulate outside their classrooms over the next few weeks to remind our students of this process. I thank parents for their understanding in this matter.
