Welcome back to 2019
Glendale has started very well as both our students and staff have settled in as if there was no break.
Over the Christmas break we sadly farewelled Miss Kuret, who had moved some of her time in 2018 across to Osborne Park Primary School and has decided to work completely at this school moving forward. Miss Anderson has also moved over the break as she was offered a fantastic opportunity at another school, so we wish these staff members all the best at their new schools. On a happier note, we have added Mrs Nicoya Wheeler to our Early Childhood Area. I know you join me in welcoming her to Glendale.
2019 has seen us release our new vision statement for our school; A learning community giving voice to all. The letters of VOICE stand for: Valuing, Openness, Including, Collaborating and Engaging. Linked to each of these words is a set of behaviours which easily measure our success or development against our goal. In weeks 1 and 2 we looked at ‘Valuing’ which highlights valuing each other, our individuality, our effort and our education.
We show respect
We encourage independence
We support each other
We celebrate success
This week at our focus moves to ‘Openness’, which highlights openness in communication, relationships and knowledge.
We listen to each other
We are honest
We build trust by aligning our actions and words
We are accountable
At next week’s assembly we will celebrate some selected students which our teachers have been able to recognise with their efforts in this area.
Our next meeting is Monday 25 February at 7pm in the school staff room.
Mrs Merritt’s Room 10, Year 4/5 class will conduct our next assembly on Wednesday 27 February. I hope you can join us. Also we invite the parents and caregivers of Room 10 to join us at the conclusion of this assembly, in the staff room, for a cup of tea and the opportunity to catch up with both Mrs Merritt and our Music Specialist Teacher, Mrs Paul.
Programs in 2019
As you would be aware we have begun 2019 with specialist subjects covering Digital Technologies, Engineering, Media, Music, PE and Science. These subjects vary slightly across our PrePrimary to Year 6 classes. Due to popular demand and in response to various conversations, we will conduct either Edudance or a similar program during 2019. Whether this again develops into a yearly or bi yearly event will be addressed via our School Board at the conclusion of 2019.
Interm Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will be taking place in weeks 9 and 10 of this term at the Ballajura Aquatic Centre. Information letters went home with students today. Any further information regarding this program and other upcoming events will be communicated in all of the current communication strategies; newsfeeds, flexibuzz and the school website’s event calendar.
Reminder to all Parents and Caregivers
Please note that this newsfeed is available in hard copy at the front office and / or we can arrange for students to collect them each fortnight.
