On Wednesday 12 June, Glendale students had the opportunity to compete in the 2019 Lightning Carnival.
Halidon, Dalmain, Marangaroo, Hawker Park, Goollelal and Glendale students all met at Kingsway Sporting Centre to engage in Football (AFL), Soccer and Netball. Despite the weather forecast the games began.
Competition was tough between all the schools resulting in some close games.
All games were played with a strong competitive spirit but a genuine focus on the qualities of good sportsmanship. Our AFL team ended the day with a 5 game sweep.
Netball B team also finished the carnival on top of the ladder.
All other teams played strongly throughout the day and everyone involved commented on how great the day was.
We would like to thank the parents and teachers involved in coaching our teams. With a special mention to Mr Marsden for organising the whole day.
From the Student Leaders
Congratulations to our Glendale students for all their hard work and effort throughout the term and such an awesome result from the Lightning Carnival at Kingsway Reserve yesterday!
Glendale A Division – 2nd overall
Glendale B Division – 2nd overall
Glendale A division – 3rd overall
Glendale B Division – Victorious! Received the trophy – well deserved for all their hard work!
Glendale – Champions! Taking home the shield for the year!
I’m so proud of our students for all of their training, teamwork, sportsmanship and how much fun they all had! GO GLENDALE!
On Tuesday we were fortunate to have Kaylia Stanton and Alice Teague-Neeld, from West Coast Fever, visit our school and meet with some of our students.
The biggest congratulations to our interschool competitors on their massive efforts, team work, attitude and Glendale spirit! Every race that was finished, regardless of position was finished with a smile on our students’ face. Our students took the time to chat and make friends with other schools over separating themselves which was so amazing to see. Every student put in their 100% best effort and it made me so proud to hear teachers and parents from our neighbouring schools say that they loved how happy and friendly our students were.
Congratulation to Adam Schmechtig for earning the Year 5 Champion Boy medal at the end of the day. His effort and ability shone throughout the entire day!
We have a lot to work on in the coming years but I know that with the way that we approach even the most intense challenges we will always succeed regardless of the result!
Thank you to the parents, community, teachers and students that made such a successful day and term happen.
On Friday 14 September, 11 students from Glendale travelled with Mrs Paul and Ms Duncan to the University of Western Australia in Crawley to watch a concert featuring the UWA Woodwinds.
This was a reward excursion for these students who are dedicated to their tuition on the trumpet, trombone, baritone and clarinet. Their lessons are provided each week through specialist teachers from the ‘Instrumental Music School Services’.
The students enjoyed lunch and a short tour of the UWA grounds before watching an entertaining concert involving many woodwind instruments and pieces and styles of music that they had never heard before.
It was a pleasure to take these deserving students on this excursion and a good time was had by everyone involved.

What an amazing Carnival Day! If was wonderful to see all the students competing with a smile on their face, cheering on and supporting each other. Thank you so much to the support of our community, staff, parents and family members, in the organising, setting up, running and packing away on the day. Your involvement helped to create a fun and successful day.
Huzzzaahhh! For Forrest taking home the faction shield for 2018 and a massive congratulations to our champions and runners up for putting in so much hard work throughout the entire process.

Stay tuned! I will be creating an imovie of the day which will be available on our website shortly.
Such an amazing effort from our Year 5 and 6 students at the Lightning Carnival last Friday. The effort, attitude and Glendale spirit was awesome and I could not be happier with everyone. Glendale experienced so much success in the form of fun and sportsmanship – but not only that! We were also fantastic enough to come runner up for both soccer and AFL! So happy with the result from those team and the netball squad for showing the highest level of Glendale positive and honest attitudes. Thank you so much to the parents, support staff, teacher and students for the highlight of the year – so far!
Congratulations to one of our year 5 students, Sophia Bell, for being awarded a City of Stirling Living Green Award for her upcycling by creating a free book exchange “Library on Erindale”. Sophia was one of only a few individuals and the only youth recipient of this award. We hope you had the opportunity to benefit from this wonderful initiative.
Congratulations to James Hunt in Year 6 for recently winning first position in the State Championships for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the 11 year old all belts division.
